Job summary

Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) seeks an enthusiastic Assistant Director of Data for Promise After-School & Athletics in New York. This role leads data quality, reporting, and analytics to inform program decisions and outcomes.

Reporting to the Managing Director, you will supervise Data Managers, establish data practices across sites, and translate findings into actionable insights for program leaders and frontline teams. A strong data skillset and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, information systems, statistics, education, social sciences, or related field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in data management, reporting, analysis, or program operations; supervisory experience preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets (formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data cleaning).
• Experience with Salesforce or another large CRM/data management system; Salesforce experience preferred.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Experience with DYCD or public-sector/funder data systems and reporting requirements.
• Experience in youth development, nonprofit, or education programs.
• Ability to translate data into actionable insights for program leaders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee collection, maintenance, validation, and reporting of program data across Promise After-School and Athletics.
• Establish data-quality processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Ensure Salesforce (Zora) and other data systems are used consistently.
• Conduct data audits and reconcile discrepancies with program teams.
• Evaluate data workflows; recommend improvements and maintain procedures and templates.
• Support compliance with funder, contract, and organizational reporting requirements.
• Generate reports and dashboards showing enrollment, attendance, engagement, and performance.
• Present findings to leadership and translate into program planning.
