Job summary

Apple Ads is hiring a Data Governance Engineer to advance privacy-centered data governance at scale. You will partner with engineering, product, privacy, and reliability teams to enable data access, protection, minimization, retention, and governance execution.

You will design scalable governance agents, build policy enforcement, and develop monitoring to detect anomalies and auto-remediate issues, with a focus on privacy, cost, and reliability at Apple's scale.

Qualifications

• BS in CS or related field; 5+ years in software development with ML/AI exposure.
• Production experience in Python, Java, Rust; data processing and API development.
• Understanding of distributed systems and cloud platforms; CAP tradeoffs; ML model deployment basics.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines using Git, GitHub Actions/Jenkins/GitLab CI; automated testing and deployment.
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog) and logging.
• Basic knowledge of ML concepts and MLOps, including pipelines, versioning, experiments.

Responsibilities

• Design autonomous governance agents for petabyte-scale data pipelines (Kafka, Spark, Hadoop) ensuring compliance and quality.
• Build MCP integrations enabling automated policy enforcement, PII detection, and data quality validation across storage and compute environments.
• Partner with engineers and PMs to develop intelligent monitoring that detects anomalies, generates compliance reports, and auto-remediates issues.
• Create reusable agent templates and workflows that adapt to changing regulations while maintaining performance and reducing manual compliance.
• Contribute to distributed agent ecosystem emphasizing reliability through self-healing mechanisms, automated failovers, and dynamic resource allocation for scalability.
• Use AI coding agents to accelerate implementation, test coverage, and debugging, validating every result for correctness, privacy, and cost.
