Job summary

Apple Ads is seeking a Data Governance Engineer to advance privacy-focused data governance across petabyte-scale pipelines. You will partner with engineering, product, privacy and reliability teams to implement data access, usage, protection, minimization, retention, and compliance controls.

You will work with Python, Java or Rust, Docker/Kubernetes, and ML/AI workflows to build scalable governance solutions that protect user privacy while enabling advertising across Apple Services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Production experience in Python, Java, or Rust
• Experience with data processing and API development
• Understanding of distributed systems and cloud platforms
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Familiarity with observability, monitoring, and logging

Responsibilities

• Design autonomous governance agents for petabyte-scale data pipelines, ensuring compliance and quality
• Build MCP integrations for automated policy enforcement, PII detection, and data quality validation
• Collaborate with engineers and PMs to develop monitoring for anomalies and compliance reports
• Create reusable agent templates and workflows for evolving regulations
• Contribute to distributed agent ecosystem with self-healing and auto-remediation
• Use AI coding agents to accelerate implementation, testing, and debugging while ensuring privacy and cost control
