Guardian Life Insurance Company invites students to join its 2027 Summer Internship in Digital & Technology – Data Engineering. This 10-week paid program offers hands-on pipeline development, cloud tech exposure (Databricks, AWS), and mentorship from senior leaders across offices in Bethlehem, PA; New York, NY; and Holmdel, NJ.

The role emphasizes building scalable data products to support analytics, ML, and reporting, with a strong culture of learning, collaboration, and real business impact.

Qualifications

• Exposure to programming using Python and SQL.
• Understanding of databases, data structures, and data processing concepts.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, distributed data processing, or modern data engineering technologies (AWS, Databricks, Spark, Snowflake, etc.).
• Interest in data engineering, analytics engineering, AI/ML, or large-scale data platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Enthusiasm, curiosity, and a strong willingness to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines ingesting, transforming, and delivering trusted data across enterprise platforms.
• Work with structured and semi-structured data sources to build scalable data products for reporting, analytics, ML, and business applications.
• Learn and apply modern cloud-based data engineering technologies (Databricks, AWS, Python, SQL, orchestration tools).
• Collaborate with product owners, analysts, architects, and engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions.
