Job summary

Guardian is offering a 10-week Summer Internship in Digital & Technology - Data Engineering in Bethlehem, PA, New York, NY, or Holmdel, NJ. You will design, build, and optimize data pipelines, learn modern cloud-based data tools, and collaborate with engineers to deliver trusted data assets.

You are a current junior or sophomore with interest in data engineering, AI/ML, and cloud technologies, seeking real-world projects and mentorship from leaders across the organization.

Qualifications

• Currently a junior or sophomore pursuing a degree in a data-related field
• Exposure to Python and SQL
• Understanding of databases, data structures, and data processing concepts
• Familiarity with cloud platforms or modern data engineering technologies is a plus (AWS, Databricks, Spark, Snowflake)
• Interest in data engineering, analytics engineering, AI/ML, or large-scale data platforms
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills
• Enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines ingesting, transforming, and delivering trusted data
• Work with structured and semi-structured data to build scalable data products
• Learn and apply Databricks, AWS, Python, SQL, and data orchestration tools
• Participate in data quality validation, monitoring, testing, and documentation
• Collaborate with product owners, analysts, architects, and engineers to translate requirements into solutions
• Explore AI-assisted engineering and modern data platforms to accelerate development
• Develop skills in data exploration, engineering, and analysis while learning to think critically
