Job summary

SMX is hiring a Data Engineer responsible for architecting, building, testing, and maintaining the data infrastructure for our mission partners. You will analyze and organize raw data, build robust data systems, and transform information into reliable data pipelines.

Collaborating with analytics and business teams, you will design scalable ELT/ETL solutions using AWS Glue, Glue Catalog, and Step Functions, optimize schemas, and ensure data quality for mission-critical needs.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
Experience in data engineering or backend software engineering.
3 years of professional data experience.
Active Top Secret clearance.
Strong proficiency in SQL and data query creation.
Hands-on experience with AWS services (Glue, Glue Catalog, Step Functions).
Experience with data modeling, data migration and ETL functions.
Excellent communication with customers.

Responsibilities

Design, construct, test, and maintain scalable data management systems and ELT/ETL pipelines.
Build infrastructure for data extraction, transformation, and loading using cloud technologies (AWS Glue, Glue Catalog, Step Functions).
Support data migration efforts and ETL functions.
Optimize database schemas and data collection/validation pipelines.
Combine data from multiple sources to meet business needs.
Collaborate with analytics and business teams to deliver production-ready datasets.
