Job summary

SMX is hiring a Data Engineer to architect, build, test, and maintain the data infrastructure for our mission partners. You will transform raw information from diverse sources into high-quality data pipelines and support analytics teams with production-ready datasets.

The role requires strong SQL, hands-on AWS experience (Glue, Catalog, Step Functions), and 3 years in data engineering or backend software roles, plus an active Top Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT or related field.
• 3 years of professional data engineering or backend software experience.
• Active Top Secret security clearance.
• Strong SQL and data query skills.
• Experience with AWS services including Glue, Catalog, and Step Functions.
• Experience with data modeling, migration, and ETL functions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, construct, test, and maintain scalable data management systems and ELT/ETL pipelines.
• Build infrastructure for data extraction, transformation, and loading using cloud tech (AWS Glue, Catalog, Step Functions).
• Support data migration efforts and ETL functions.
• Optimize database schemas and data collection/validation processes.
• Combine data from multiple sources to meet business needs.
• Collaborate with analytics and business teams to deliver production-ready datasets.
