Job summary

SMX is hiring a Data Engineer to architect, build, test, and maintain data infrastructure for mission partners. You will shape data models, ELT/ETL pipelines, and data queries, transforming raw information into high-quality datasets for analytics and business teams.

The role emphasizes AWS Glue, Glue Catalog, and Step Functions, with collaboration across analytics and mission-driven stakeholders to ensure reliable data delivery and integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3 years of professional data engineering or backend software engineering experience.
• Active Top Secret security clearance.
• Strong SQL and data query creation skills.
• Hands-on AWS experience with Glue services and Step Functions.
• Experience with data modeling, migration and ETL functions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with customers.

Responsibilities

• Design, construct, test, and maintain scalable data management systems and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Build infrastructure for data extraction, transformation, and loading from multiple sources using AWS Glue, Glue Catalog, and Step Functions.
• Support data migration efforts and ETL functions.
• Optimize database schemas and systems for data collection, validation, and preparation.
• Combine data from diverse sources to meet business needs.
• Collaborate with analytics and business teams to deliver production-ready datasets.
