Job summary

Early Warning is seeking a Data Engineer to design and develop BI solutions across multiple tech stacks, translating metrics into actionable insights for planning and performance. The role is based in a hybrid environment in the Phoenix, AZ / Chicago, IL area and will contribute to data-driven decision making across functions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and relevant experience typical in data roles.
• 2–4 years of PySpark/Python/Spark/Scala in Linux for data engineering.
• Understanding of Tableau Server and dashboards.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of data modeling, ETL, and system design.
• Experience with SQL Spark.
• Python for software/data engineering.
• ML toolkits in Python/R.
• Data ingestion/storage in Hadoop or AWS/S3.
• Relational databases, querying and indexing.
• Experience collaborating with engineering teams in regulated environments.
• Strong communication skills.
• Background check/drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Define reports and dashboards with business users and identify data gaps.
• Design backend data sources using Cloudera stack.
• Using Tableau, build dashboards, scorecards, and reports with trends.
• Perform in-depth data analysis and causal reasoning.
• Design ETL and data manipulations for analyses and reports.
• Explore industry best practices and guide data platform decisions.
• Recommend BI standards and data governance.
• Provide training and support to business teams.
• Write data infrastructure and analytics tools for Data Science.
• Mentor interns and guide data scientists on best practices.
• Collaborate with analytics leadership on ETL and cluster computing.
• Support risk management and data confidentiality.
