Job summary

Early Warning seeks a Data Engineer to design and develop BI solutions across multiple tech stacks, translating metrics into actionable insights for planning and performance. You’ll build datamarts, dashboards, and ETL processes, collaborating with analysts and engineers to advance the Data Science platform.

The role emphasizes data quality, governance, and scalable architecture, with hybrid work in the San Francisco Bay Area and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 2–4 years of PySpark/Python/Spark/Scala experience in Linux.
• Experience with Tableau Server and Tableau dashboards.
• Strong problem solving, testing and analytical skills.
• Experience with SQL, Spark, Python, and data modeling.
• Experience building data ingestion frameworks in Hadoop or AWS/S3.
• Experience collaborating with engineering teams in enterprise environments.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Background and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Define requirements for reports and dashboards with business users.
• Design and develop backend data sources using Cloudera stack.
• Use Tableau to build dashboards, scorecards, and reports.
• Perform in-depth data analysis and causal investigations.
• Design ETL processes to support analyses and reports.
• Guide data platforms, tools, and processes with best practices.
• Provide support and training to business teams.
• Write data infrastructure and analytics tools for Data Science.
• Mentor interns and guide Data Scientists on software engineering.
• Collaborate with analytics leadership on platform improvements.
• Support risk management and data confidentiality.
