Job summary

Providence Health & Services is seeking a Data Engineer I to design and develop modern data-centric applications across the healthcare system. You will build scalable data pipelines, transform and enrich data, and mentor junior engineers while adopting emerging technologies.

You will own reliability, security, and cost-efficiency of Providence's enterprise data platform, automating pipelines, resolving incidents, and ensuring SLAs in collaboration with product, platform and analytics teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience with hands-on ownership of production data operations.
• 1+ year of related Snowflake, CTRL-M, and ADF experience.
• Experience with cloud data platforms and data warehousing best practices.

Responsibilities

• Build and monitor batch/streaming ELT/ETL pipelines across cloud services and Snowflake.
• Triage failures, perform root-cause analyses, and reduce MTTR.
• Orchestrate schedules and connectors (Ctrl-M, Fivetran/HVR).
• Develop operational automation with SQL, Python, and Bash/PowerShell on Linux.
• Implement observability: logging, alerts, data quality checks, audits, runbooks.
• Optimize Snowflake performance and cost (warehouses, caching).
• Enforce access controls and secrets management for compliance.
• Collaborate with product/analytics teams and provide on-call support.
