Job summary

Slalom is seeking a Data Engineer to join its Data Architecture & Engineering team. You will design, build, and operationalize scalable data solutions across AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks, and Snowflake, collaborating with architects and delivery teams.

You will implement cloud-native data platforms, data lakes, and data products, while applying modern engineering best practices and responsible AI principles to deliver high-quality, governed data foundations for analytics and AI workloads.

Qualifications

• Experience with at least one major cloud or data platform (AWS/Azure/GCP/Databricks/Snowflake).
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, Java, or Scala.
• Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT, streaming, orchestration, or data platform modernization.
• Familiarity with Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Dagster, or related tools.
• Understanding of governed, secure data foundations for AI/ML/GenAI.
• Experience with AI-enabled engineering practices and responsible AI.

Responsibilities

• Design and build cloud-native data platforms, data lakes, lakehouses, warehous es, and data products.
• Develop reliable batch and streaming data pipelines and orchestrations.
• Translate business requirements into maintainable engineering solutions.
• Develop solutions across AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks, and Snowflake.
• Apply best practices: version control, CI/CD, testing, IaC, observability, security.
• Use AI-enabled approaches to improve delivery speed, quality, and documentation.
• Design and operate governed data platforms to support analytics, AI, ML, GenAI.
• Enable data quality, metadata, lineage, security, governance, and cost-effective ops.
• Participate in technical discovery, reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Contribute to reusable patterns and engineering communities within Slalom.
