Job summary

Slalom is seeking a Data Architect to design scalable, cloud-native data platforms and lead architecture decisions for analytics, AI, and GenAI initiatives in a hybrid environment. You will guide delivery, mentor engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business goals into robust data solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, leadership, and collaboration with AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks, and Snowflake partners.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related disciplines.
• Experience designing enterprise-scale cloud data platforms and modern data architectures.
• Strong understanding of data lakes, lakehouses, data warehouses, streaming architectures, and governance concepts.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and a desire to expand across the broader cloud ecosystem.
• Experience leading architecture efforts from discovery through implementation while staying engaged in delivery.
• Strong communication, consulting, and stakeholder management skills.
• Passion for mentoring others, continuous learning, and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve cloud-native data architectures, including data lakes, lakehouses, data warehouses, and real-time platforms.
• Translate business objectives into scalable, secure data solutions.
• Lead architecture and technical design efforts from discovery through implementation.
• Partner with engineering teams to deliver data platforms across AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake, and related technologies.
• Design AI-ready data foundations to support analytics, ML, Generative AI, and agentic AI workloads.
• Apply AI-enabled engineering practices to improve quality and delivery outcomes.
• Facilitate architecture workshops, technical discovery sessions, and stakeholder alignment.
• Mentor engineers and architects to grow technical capabilities and foster learning and innovation.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering teams and Centers of Excellence to share best practices.
• Support business development with solution design, client conversations, and pre-sales efforts.
