Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a qualified school counselor to join its educational leadership team. The role provides developmental supports across academic, personal/social, and career domains to help today’s students succeed in school and beyond.

The counselor will create and evaluate a comprehensive program aligned with the CPS REACH Framework, conduct needs assessments, deliver core curriculum, guide individual planning, and provide responsive and indirect services under principal supervision.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in school counseling is required.
• Current ISBE PEL with School Counseling Endorsement is required.

Responsibilities

• Create, Implement, and Evaluate a Comprehensive School Counseling Program aligned with the CPS REACH Framework for School Counselors.
• Conduct Annual Needs Assessments and Data Reviews to identify critical student needs and set targeted program goals.
• Implement the School Counseling Core Curriculum through classroom guidance, college/career events, and school-wide activities.
• Provide Individual Student Planning Activities to support diploma attainment and postsecondary options.
• Provide Responsive Services to address barriers to achievement, including small groups and counseling sessions.
• Provide Indirect Student Support through referrals, partnerships, and advocacy.
• Provide System Support by developing an annual evidence-based Implementation Plan and coordinating with administrators.

ISBE Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Counseling Endorsement
