Job summary

LexisNexis Law360 is seeking an Assistant Managing Editor to lead the data team’s editorial side, overseeing reporters and researchers who transform data into rigorous journalism. This role combines hands-on leadership with shaping data-driven series and ensuring publication quality.

You will coach staff, guide story ideas, and collaborate with graphics and research teams to ensure sound numbers and engaging storytelling for a wide readership.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years in newsrooms with data-driven or investigative reporting/editing experience.
• Strong leadership or team management in a newsroom.
• Sharp editorial judgment for data-heavy stories.
• Ability to handle varying data quality and spot inconsistencies.
• Excellent communication to explain complex concepts.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of data reporters and editors with clear standards.
• Ensure data journalism is accurate, clear, and fair; translate numbers into readable stories.
• Develop and pitch data story ideas and guide projects to publication.
• Coach reporters and editors to sharpen data skills and writing.
• Own editorial quality and integrity of the team's output, including data interpretation and presentation.
• Coordinate with survey/research specialists to ensure accurate reporting.
• Coordinate cross-functional collaboration to publish on time and meet high standards.
