Law360 is seeking an Assistant Managing Editor to lead the data team, guiding reporters and editors in turning datasets into compelling, rigorous journalism. This hands-on role shapes story ideas, coaches staff, and ensures high editorial standards across data-driven series.

You will collaborate with graphics, research and survey analysts to ensure accuracy and engaging storytelling, shaping new data-driven projects for our readership.

Qualifications

• 7-10+ years in newsrooms with data-driven or investigative reporting/editing.
• Demonstrated leadership or team management in a newsroom.
• Strong editorial judgment with data-heavy stories.
• Ability to work with varying data quality and identify inaccuracies.
• Strong communication skills to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of data reporters and editors, setting standards for reporting and production across data-driven series.
• Ensure data journalism is edited for accuracy, clarity, fairness and narrative strength.
• Develop and pitch story ideas and guide projects from concept to publication with reporters, editors and graphics staff.
• Coach reporters/editors to sharpen data skills and writing abilities.
• Own editorial quality and integrity of the team’s output, including data interpretation and presentation.
• Collaborate with survey and research specialists to ensure accuracy and clear explanations.
• Coordinate cross-functional work to publish stories on time and to high standards.
