Job summary

Ocado Group is seeking a Controls Engineer to be a data-driven systems specialist, leveraging PLC expertise to optimize throughput and diagnose issues. You will use Grafana, Looker, and data-based methods while supporting live operations and occasionally night shifts.

Responsibilities include front-line escalation, safe PLC changes, and mentoring engineers, with a strong emphasis on safety, change control, and documentation across 24/7 operations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in automation/controls roles; 3+ years in warehouse or industrial environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Available for night and weekend work as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line and escalation support for live production control systems (PLC, SCADA, HMI).
• Diagnose and resolve hardware/software faults; modify PLC code when safe.
• Lead data-driven optimizations using Grafana/Looker and produce RCAs.
• Maintain documentation, backups, and version control for PLC programs.
• Mentor Senior and Maintenance Engineers; own Jira pipeline for improvements.
