Job summary

Ocado Group is seeking a data-driven Controls Engineer to optimize PLC-based systems in a fast-paced fulfillment environment. You will analyze trends, perform root-cause analyses, and lead improvements across live production lines.

The role requires hands-on work on live systems, night/weekend availability, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance throughput and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; 5+ years in automation/controls roles.
• Experience in warehouse, distribution, or industrial environments is required.
• Hands-on experience with SCADA, HMI platforms, and industrial automation hardware.

Responsibilities

• Provide front-line and escalation support for live production control systems (PLC, SCADA, HMI, Safety PLCs).
• Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software faults; modify PLC code as needed.
• Ensure changes follow change control, backup, and documentation standards.
• Perform troubleshooting and system modifications in line with electrical safety and machine safety standards.
• Mentor Senior and Maintenance Engineers; participate in upskilling and knowledge transfer.
