Job summary

San José State University seeks an Annual Giving Officer to plan, execute, and evaluate annual giving campaigns. You will drive audience segmentation, campaign management, reporting, and operational coordination to improve donor engagement and fundraising results.

Embedded in the Annual Giving program, this role focuses on donor targeting, retention, and loyalty, translating strategy into actionable outreach and data-informed campaigns.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree
• Four years of relevant experience; advanced degree may substitute for experience
• Experience with data analysis, segmentation, and reporting in fundraising context

Responsibilities

• Manage and prepare campaign-specific data for Annual Giving initiatives and ensure accuracy
• Coordinate with Advancement Services for data requirements and reporting alignment
• Translate campaign needs into data requests and specifications
• Validate and reconcile campaign data against official records
• Develop and maintain audience lists for donor acquisition, retention, and loyalty
• Maintain segmentation frameworks (LYBUNT, SYBUNT, first-time donors, recurring donors)
• Execute audience segmentation strategies for appeals, crowdfunding, and Day of Giving
• Monitor campaign progress and recommend adjustments to improve participation and fundraising results
• Create year-over-year reporting frameworks measuring donor participation and revenue
• Plan and oversee campaign timelines and cross-campus coordination
