Job summary

Oakland Community College is seeking an Academic Advisor to execute data-driven outreach and initiatives to support and retain assigned students across OCC campuses, including Auburn Hills, Orchard Ridge, and Royal Oak.

The 12-month, 40-hour position will require meetings and student appointments campus-wide, leveraging early momentum metrics and high-impact advising practices to improve student success and persistence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with relevant advising experience preferred.
• Experience in higher education advising is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Load program plans in the student planning system and educate students on registration each semester.
• Evaluate early momentum metrics to inform outreach campaigns.
• Monitor semester completion and registration patterns.
• Produce reports on retention and effectiveness of outreach campaigns.
• Develop and execute student communication plans to drive retention.
• Refer students to counseling and support services.
• Maintain knowledge of academic programs and requirements.
• Provide recommendations for improving advising services.
• Maintain records of communication and engagement for assessment.
• Collaborate with other units and participate in meetings as a team.
• Engage in professional development and stay current with advising technology.
• Participate in NACADA and state organizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
