Job summary

Google's Hardware Operations team seeks an Operations Technician to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain servers and related hardware and software. You will configure complex networks, routers, hubs, switches and networking protocols, and may lead small project teams during installations.

The role involves physical tasks such as moving racks and frequent facility interactions, with a focus on scalable, cutting-edge infrastructure across a global data-center footprint.

Qualifications

• Experience with performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment.
• Troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware and server hardware.
• Experience with networking protocols.
• Ability to lift 50 lb (23 kg) and perform physical work for extended periods.
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across teams.
• Report issues and follow procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues with equipment or infrastructure.
• Maintain security and integrity of data, and ensure data handling meets Google security standards.
• Disassemble equipment at end-of-life via part replacement or maintenance within teams.
• Repair and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure.
