Job summary

Google's Hardware Operations team seeks an Operations Technician to install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware like servers and components, and to configure networks and related devices. You may lead small projects and installations; expect on-site work moving racks in Google's data centers.

The role emphasizes hands-on repair, troubleshooting and collaboration in a fast-paced, cutting-edge infra environment with non-standard hours support.

Qualifications

• Experience with component-level repairs and troubleshooting on technical equipment.
• Diagnose OS, server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Ability to lift 50 lb and perform physical tasks.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Completion of Google IT Support Professional Certificate.
• 2 years of experience diagnosing/troubleshooting OS, hardware or networking protocols.
• Experience in data center or NOC environment.
• Collaborate effectively within dynamic teams.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or functions.
• Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose issues.
• Maintain data security and integrity per Google standards.
• Disassemble equipment at end-of-life in a team setting.
• Repair and perform preventative maintenance on equipment and infrastructure.
