Job summary

Google's Hardware Operations team seeks an Operations Technician to install, configure, test, and maintain servers and server software, including complex networking components. The role involves hands-on work in data centers and contributing to cutting-edge infrastructure.

You will participate in projects, lead small teams when needed, and handle physical setup of racks. The job emphasizes collaboration across teams and adaptability in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Experience performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment.
• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting OS, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Ability to lift/move 50 lb and perform physical tasks.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or functions.
• Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose straightforward issues with equipment or infrastructure as they arise.
• Maintain the security and integrity of data, in line with Google security standards.
• Disassemble specific equipment that has reached end-of-life via part replacement or maintenance, in a team setting.
• Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure.
