Job summary

Google is seeking an Operations Technician to join the Hardware Operations team in Stillwater, OK. You will install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (servers and components) and server software, contributing to cutting-edge infrastructure used by Google services.

The role involves coordinating on networks, routers, hubs, switches, and networking protocols, leading or supporting small project teams on installations.

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer/server hardware, or networking protocols.
• Experience performing component-level repairs and troubleshooting on IT equipment.
• Ability to lift 50 lb (23 kg) and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across projects or functions.
• Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose straightforward issues with equipment or infrastructure as they arise, and applying the resources needed to resolve identified issues.
• Maintain the security and integrity of data, track media to check for standard data security issues in accordance with Google standards.
• Disassemble specific equipment that has reached end-of-life via part replacement or maintenance, in a team setting.
• Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with defined solutions and limited guidance.
