Overview
Join our dynamic AWS team as a Data Center Technician and play a pivotal role in maintaining the heartbeat of the world's most innovative technology platform. You will work in a 24/7 environment, ensuring seamless data center operations that power millions of businesses and services worldwide. The role is based in an AWS GovCloud region in Oregon (OR) and requires travel within and outside the regional work area.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform server rack installations and hardware break‑fix on various components.
- Troubleshoot network issues and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.
- Escalate complex incidents to senior technicians and management as needed.
- Serve as the primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Participate in on‑call duties and scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
- Help train and onboard new team members.
Physical Requirements
- Regularly lift or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.
- Work in cramped and/or elevated locations; bend, lift, stretch, and reach as required.
- Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely.
- Operate in noisy environments.
- Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Requirements
- Willingness and ability to travel to data center locations as required.
- Open to temporarily working at alternative sites during training periods or until the assigned facility is operational.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.
- 1+ years of computer networking experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1+ years of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and/or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
- Experience working in a Data Center environment.
- Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience in a relevant field (e.g., computer science, networking engineering).
- Understanding of network design, protocols, and layer 1/2 troubleshooting.
Benefits
