Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Technician to maintain the heartbeat of our global cloud infrastructure and ensure continuous access to the technology powering millions of businesses worldwide.

You will perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix, and network troubleshooting, while collaborating with engineers, vendors and contractors across multiple data centers. The role includes on-call duties, travel between sites, and opportunities to contribute to

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, and/or weekends.
  • Experience managing work through a ticketing system.
  • Experience working in a Data Center environment.
  • Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent professional or military experience.
  • Understanding of network design, protocols, and Layer 1/2 troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Overview

Amazon Data Services, Inc. (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Technician to maintain the heartbeat of our global cloud infrastructure. The role supports all AWS data centers, ensuring continuous access to the technology that powers millions of businesses worldwide.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix, and network troubleshooting.
  • Respond to operational incidents and negotiate escalations as needed.
  • Act as primary contact for internal and external stakeholders including engineers, vendors, and contractors.
  • Participate in on‑call duties, scheduled maintenance, and change management activities.
  • Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives.
  • Train and onboard new team members.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift or move up to 40 pounds regularly; assist with group lifts of 41 pounds or more.
  • Work in cramped or elevated locations.
  • Stand, walk, climb ladders and gangways, and perform bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations.
  • Operate safely in noisy environments.
Essential Requirements
  • Must be able to travel or commute between data center locations as required.
  • Willingness to work temporarily at alternative sites during training.
  • Travel frequency will vary based on business needs.
A Day in the Life

Collaborate with customer teams to take ownership of technical issues, drive resolution by engaging cross‑functional partners, and maintain service level agreements through proactive detection and reporting. Work includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays with travel across regional work areas.

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of computer/server hardware troubleshooting or related IT experience.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, and/or weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing work through a ticketing system.
  • Experience working in a Data Center environment.

NOTE: Amazon does not sponsor for immigration, including for H‑1B, TN, and other non‑immigrant visas, for this role. Lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position.
