Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a System Development Engineer to join our global Data Center Engineering team, responsible for the design, development, automation, and continuous innovation within our expanding data center footprint.

You will help ensure high uptime, reliability, scalability and cost effectiveness while working with cross‑functional teams across AWS to deliver scalable controls products and solutions.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
• Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology.

Responsibilities

• Work in a cross-disciplinary setting with ability to influence and drive others.
• Work has deep and far reaching impact on overall product design/solutions
• Advises peer engineers and management team.
• Make technical trade-offs between short-term project goals and long-term business needs.
• Develop common libraries and reusable modular components to accelerate build cycles.
• Simplify, optimize, and accelerate the software development cycle for data center controls products.
• Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center controls products.
• Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management, and partner teams.
• Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas.
• Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating complete ownership.
• Work with global partners to deliver electrical and mechanical controls products.
