Job summary

Amazon is seeking a System Development Engineer for the Data Center Engineering team in Seattle, WA. You will design, develop, automate, and innovate on controls systems that scale compute capacity and improve reliability across global data centers.

You will work with cross‑functional teams, influence architecture decisions, and own major initiatives from concept to deployment, delivering high‑impact solutions for AWS infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby.

Responsibilities

• Work in a cross-disciplinary setting with ability to influence and drive others.
• Work has deep and far reaching impact on overall product design/solutions.
• Advises peer engineers and management team.
• Make technical trade-offs between short-term project goals and long-term business needs.
• Develop common libraries and reusable modular components to accelerate build cycles.
• Simplify, optimize, and accelerate the software development cycle for data center controls products.
• Leverage economy of scale through standardization and modularization of data center controls products.
• Provide technical subject matter expertise to peers, senior management, and partner teams.
• Develop business justification and narratives to promote new concepts and ideas.
• Lead key initiatives for the organization while demonstrating complete ownership.
• Work with global partners to deliver electrical and mechanical controls products.
