Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a System Development Engineer to join the Data Center Engineering team in Seattle, WA. You will design, develop, automate, and continuously innovate within a growing data center footprint.

You will work with electrical and mechanical controls teams to scale compute capacity, improve uptime, and reduce costs while maintaining high safety and reliability standards for AWS customers.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of programming with at least one modern language (C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby)
• 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• 4+ years of systems development in an IT or data center environment
• 2+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience
• Experience leading the design, build and deployment of complex software solutions in production
• Bachelor's degree in a related field

Responsibilities

• Work in a cross-disciplinary setting with ability to influence and drive others.
• Impact overall product design/solutions.
• Advise peer engineers and management team.
• Make technical trade-offs between short-term goals and long-term business needs.
• Develop common libraries and reusable modular components to accelerate build cycles.
• Simplify, optimize, and accelerate the software development cycle for data center controls products.
• Lead initiatives and own key projects.
• Collaborate with global partners to deliver controls products.
