Job summary

Meta's FORCE team is seeking a Data Center Server Repair Technician for an entry-level role designed to grow foundational skills in data center operations. You will learn to follow documented procedures, assist with server hardware checks, and support reliability of Meta’s global server fleet.

You'll gain hands-on experience with hardware, Linux basics, and ticket-driven maintenance, while collaborating with a team to keep servers up and running and to move toward more advanced repair

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic hands-on computer experience; Linux skills preferred.
• Willingness to learn server hardware and repair procedures.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and SOPs.
• Ability to work under supervision with tasks reviewed by Manager/Team Lead.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds and standing for long periods.
• Willingness to work extended shifts in a data center with heat.
• Flexibility to work weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Basic understanding of computer and network hardware, including cabling (Linux preferred).
• Willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions, MOPs, and standard operating procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and reliability in task execution.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Perform routine physical checks of server hardware and assist with guided troubleshooting.
• Follow documented procedures (MOPs) to support server hardware reseats, swaps, and repairs.
• Follow documented troubleshooting procedures, including running CLI commands or other advanced diagnosis, to identify, diagnose and fix basic hardware repairs.
• Assist with ticket resolution by gathering requested information and escalating issues as needed.
• Participate in physical inspections of server hardware in data halls (including serial number and power verification) as directed.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including updates to tickets, checklists and logs.
• Support the team in maintaining server uptime and reliability by responding promptly to assigned tickets.
• Accurately pull and manage inventory (server spare parts) according to established processes and update inventory systems promptly.
• Communicate clearly with team members, and elevate issues when outside of scope or expertise.
• Participate in training and development activities to build technical skills.
• Adhere to safety and security protocols at all times.
• Physically assist with moving and racking servers for projects and operational needs.
• Routine operation of hand and power tools (such as drills, screwdrivers, safety cutters, and lifts) to support installation and maintenance tasks.
