Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Safety Manager to lead safety for a Cedar Rapids data center project. You will provide safety leadership, audit compliance, and incident investigations, while coordinating safety training and committee activities to promote a safe work environment.

Ideal candidates have four years in construction safety, with data center experience preferred, and strong management, communication, and coaching skills. This position requires 58 hours per week, Monday through Saturday.

Qualifications

• Experience in a formal safety role in construction
• Data center construction experience preferred
• Strong management and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to coach and mentor staff across levels

Responsibilities

• Lead safety leadership and oversight for the assigned region
• Provide safety training and support for preconstruction safety planning
• Conduct jobsite safety audits and incident investigations
• Ensure employee authority to stop unsafe work
• Coordinate safety committee activities and safety programs
• Support OSHA and other safety hearings and inspections
• Develop and present incident investigations and corrective actions
• Complete safety inspections across construction projects
