Job summary

Mortenson seeks a Safety Engineer to implement the Zero Injury Safety program across project sites, ensuring a safe environment for teams, subs, and visitors. Roles vary by level 1 or 2 and compensation depends on experience and location.

Responsibilities include safety program administration, audits, incident analysis, OSHA reporting, vendor coordination, and safety training. A strong focus on collaboration, leadership, and effective communication is required, with travel up to 100% possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or associate's degree in occupational safety, health, or related field preferred.
• OR High school diploma with CHST or STS certification, OSHA 30 Hour training, and minimum five years of construction experience.
• Current driver's license.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety software.

Responsibilities

• Implement and administer safety program at each worksite, assist in developing site-specific safety activities, conduct safety orientation/training.
• Document and track safety violations, conduct safety audits, analyze safety data, assist with major incident analysis, manage OSHA reporting.
• Review safety submittals, monitor trade partner work plans, assist with onsite injury management, organize safety celebrations, participate in project planning/hazard analysis.
• Provide safety-related information, evaluate industrial hygiene concerns, maintain knowledge of safety standards/regulations, serve as safety resource, attend/chair safety meetings.
• Collaborate with client safety personnel, union representatives, insurance risk engineers, accompany safety/health/OSHA personnel on tours, ensure maintenance of safety equipment, manage PPE and safety budget.
• Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
