Job summary

Cedar is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting for its development projects. You will track costs, codings, commitments, and invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.

You’ll work with Development, Construction, Procurement, and Accounting to maintain strong financial controls and project visibility. The role emphasizes budgeting, forecasting, and coordinating with project managers to keep financial information current, accurate, and in compliance with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, including project/real estate development or construction accounting.
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and project-based accounting.
• Experience with project cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Proficient in Excel; experience with ERP/financial systems such as Yardi, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Deltek.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting for assigned development projects, including setup, cost coding, commitments, invoices, accruals, and cost tracking.
• Maintain project financial records and ensure proper coding and periods.
• Monitor actual costs against budgets/forecasts and resolve variances.
• Prepare recurring project financial reports and variance analyses for leadership.
• Support month-end/year-end close and collaboration with project teams on reporting.
