Job summary

JLL in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Data Center Operating Engineer to focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment across data center systems. You will monitor mechanical, electrical, and control systems, perform preventive maintenance, and coordinate with vendors to sustain uptime.

Responsibilities include analyzing alarms, recording readings, and following safety procedures while ensuring a reliable data center environment for tenants and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 4+ years related work experience.
• Systems, emergency generators, and switchgears.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and technical manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair data center systems to ensure 100% uptime.
• Monitor and adjust mechanical and electrical equipment; record readings and perform adjustments as needed.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies; analyze causes and take corrective actions.
• Manage work orders, vendor coordination, and customer-facing tickets.
• Follow safety policies for hazardous materials and maintain a clean, safe workplace.
