Job summary

JLL is seeking a Data Center Operating Engineer (Union Local 30) for a night shift in New York. The role includes hands‑on maintenance of building systems, preventive maintenance, and equipment operation in a critical environment.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 4+ years in building maintenance, HVAC trade training, and Universal CFC certification, with union training welcomed. Proactive, safety‑minded teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum four years of relevant experience in building maintenance.
• Trade school degree in HVAC or related field; union training acceptable.
• Universal CFC certification required or obtainable within 90 days of employment.
• Knowledge of ladders, lifts, hand tools, voltmeters, drain augers, safety gear and fire extinguishers.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, repair and operate mechanical, electrical and power generation equipment to support the critical environment.
• Operate systems safely and in accordance with regulations and SOPs.
• Learn building controls, electrical and UPS systems via on‑the‑job training and manuals.
• Conduct predictive, planned and preventive maintenance and equipment rounds.
• Inspect and repair pumps, fans, valves and motors; ensure proper operation.
• Maintain time and production records and respond to service requests.
• Participate in emergency response and safety training; adhere to safety protocols.
