Job summary

JLL is seeking an Operating Engineer - Critical Environments to maintain 100% uptime in a mission-critical data center. The role requires expertise across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or central utility operations with multi-skill capabilities.

The position operates on a 4-day night shift schedule with potential on-call duties. Candidates should have at least 4 years of related experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work unsupervised in a compliant data-center environment.

Qualifications

• Requires 4+ years in facilities, data center or related environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs, climb ladders up to 30 ft, and navigate rooftops.
• Willingness to work night shifts and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on data center systems including fire/life safety, HVAC, electrical equipment, and controls.
• Monitor and adjust refrigeration, boilers, and ventilation for optimal performance.
• Record readings and make adjustments to prevent downtime.
• Respond to alarms and address issues to maintain continuous operation.
• Manage work orders via CMMS, coordinate with vendors, and handle tickets.
• Follow emergency escalation procedures and maintain safe handling of materials.
