Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a hands-on Preconstruction Manager - Mechanical to bridge design and construction for major data center projects across the United States. This role requires coordinating with internal teams and external contractors to develop comprehensive bid packages, ensuring constructability and proper sequencing from HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines.

The candidate will travel up to 50% and ideally reside near a Jacobs U.S. office.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in Mechanical engineering or 15+ years in construction management for industrial projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent construction experience including certified technical training.
• Understanding of construction means, methods, codes and standards.
• Experience interpreting mechanical drawings for construction.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to resolve design and constructability issues on industrial projects.
• Identify schedule and cost savings opportunities through design and sequencing.
• Identify trade partners for early contractor engagement.
• Coordinate cross-discipline evaluation of mechanical scope and sequencing.
• Identify risks for long-lead activities and synchronize with schedules.
• Develop and review construction bid packages for contractor award.
• Coordinate stakeholders for full WBS and scope comprehension.
• Review Vendor Data Requirement submittals for constructability impact.
