Job summary

Jacobs’ Advanced Manufacturing group is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager - Mechanical to bridge design and on-site construction for major industrial projects. The role emphasizes constructability review and coordination with engineering teams, contractors, and vendors.

The position supports data center projects with travel across the U.S. and focuses on HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection scopes, ensuring safe and efficient delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent construction experience.
• 8+ years experience in Mechanical engineering or 15+ years in construction management for industrial projects.
• General understanding of construction-oriented means, methods, codes and standards.
• Experience interpreting mechanical engineering design drawings and specifications for construction purposes.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in resolving design and constructability concerns related to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Identify opportunities for schedule and cost savings based on design and potential modularization.
• Identify trade partners for early contractor engagement through design phase.
• Organize cross-discipline evaluation of mechanical scope for construction sequencing and build-out.
• Identify risks for long lead construction activities and synchronize with design and schedule.
• Assist with reviews of Vendor Data Requirement submittals during design phase for constructability and impacts to packages.
