Job summary

Jacobs’ Advanced Manufacturing group seeks an experienced Preconstruction Manager - Mechanical to bridge engineering design and construction for major industrial projects. Lead cross-discipline teams and coordinate bid packages for HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection on site.

The role requires extensive experience in mechanical engineering or construction management, near a Jacobs U.S. office, with travel up to 50% and location flexibility across the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent construction experience.
• 8+ years experience in Mechanical engineering or 15+ years in construction management for industrial projects.
• General understanding of construction-oriented means, methods, codes and standards.
• Experience interpreting mechanical engineering design drawings and specifications for construction purposes.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in resolving design and constructability concerns related to engineering drawings and specs.
• Identify opportunities for schedule and cost savings based on design or modularization.
• Identify trade partners for early contractor engagement during design phase.
• Organize cross-discipline evaluation of mechanical scope for construction sequencing.
• Identify risks for long lead construction activities and align with schedules.
• Develop and review construction bid packages for contractor award.
• Coordinate across stakeholders for full construction work breakdown structure.
• Assist with reviews of Vendor Data Requirement submittals for constructability impacts.
