Job summary

Jobtailor in Houston, TX is seeking an entry-level inventory and logistics specialist to receive, inspect, and accurately record incoming hardware and equipment. You will help prepare shipments, maintain records, and keep the warehouse orderly and safe.

You will collaborate with procurement and technical teams, perform regular stock counts, and support loading/unloading tasks using pallet jacks, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in daily operations.

Qualifications

  • Requires 1 year of experience in logistics or inventory management.
  • Proficiency with inventory management software and MS Office.
  • Able to perform basic math and read safety/procedural documents.
  • Familiarity with lifting techniques and material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and record all incoming inventory accurately.
  • Maintain inventory records and ship/receive documentation.
  • Perform regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and carriers for shipments.
  • Prepare shipping documents, labels, and packaging.
  • Upload, unpack, and inspect shipments for accuracy.
  • Transport inventory using pallet jacks and follow safety protocols.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Assist with disposal of packaging materials and obsolete equipment.
  • Follow safety protocols to ensure a secure workplace.
  • Collaborate with data center operations, procurement, and support teams.
  • Support special projects as directed by management.
  • Complete other duties with quality and efficiency.
  • Assist in setup/installation of server racks per instructions.
  • Help assemble server racks following diagrams.
  • Handle basic tools safely to complete tasks.
  • Support senior technicians with cable management.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Receive, inspect, and accurately record all incoming inventory, including racks & trays, networking equipment, and other hardware.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure proper documentation for all items received and shipped.
  • Perform regular stock counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and carriers to schedule inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Prepare shipping documents, labels, and packaging for outgoing shipments.
  • Upload, unpack, and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and completeness.
  • Transport inventory by hand using material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks) in accordance with all safety procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including storage areas and shipping/receiving docks.
  • Assist with the disposal of packaging materials and obsolete equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including data center operations, procurement, and technical support, to fulfill inventory and logistics needs.
  • Provide support for special projects or initiatives as directed by management.
  • Complete other duties that may be assigned as required with consideration for quality, safety and efficiency.
  • Assist in the setup and installation of computer server racks according to provided instructions.
  • Help in the assembly of server racks by following diagrams and guidelines provided by senior team members.
  • Handle basic tools and equipment safely and effectively to complete installation tasks.
  • Support senior technicians in cable management and organization within the server racks.
Requirements
  • To be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience in logistics, inventory management, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and software, as well as proficiency in using basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word).
  • The ability to do basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural documents.
  • Familiarity with proper lifting techniques and the use of material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
