Job summary

E2 Optics is seeking a Data Center Infrastructure Technician to join our onsite team in Cedar Rapids. You will work within a fast-paced data center environment, focusing on cabling, terminations, labeling, and basic testing under supervision.

You'll gain exposure to fiber handling, rack installations, and safety protocols while supporting senior technicians on projects. The role requires flexibility for shifts and physical duties in a dynamic setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience testing equipment/cabling and building out racks.
• Basic understanding of RJ45 terminations and punch-downs.
• Comfortable working with color-coded wiring.
• Willing to work days/nights/weekends as needed.
• Must lift up to 40 lbs and climb ladders; able to work in confined spaces.
• OSHA 10 certification required within first two weeks.
• Reading, writing, and understanding English; bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Pull, dress, and label cabling (Cat5e/Cat6) per standards.
• Begin RJ45 connector and patch panel terminations with guidance.
• Assist in labeling and cable identification.
• Learn and perform basic punch-downs for telecom blocks.
• Support cable testing using basic tools under supervision.
• Gain exposure to fiber cable dressing and basic handling.
• Take direction from senior technicians and supervisors.
