Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is looking for a Data Center Chief Engineer to ensure peak performance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/safety systems across AWS data centers.

The role emphasizes planned maintenance, rapid incident response, and collaboration with onsite technicians and vendors. The Chief Engineer acts as the focal point for facility operations, driving safety, efficiency, and cost-effective performance while coordinating with IT leadership on projects and capacity planning.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance experience.
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel experience.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues and oversee operation of critical systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures within SLAs.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with Facility Manager to set team culture.
• Create and deploy new standard practices for engineering operations and vendor support teams.
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to improve efficiency.
