Job summary

Hut 8 is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer for its Miami headquarters to oversee suppression, detection, and life-safety design reviews across data center projects. You will coordinate AHJ submittals, variance requests, and FM Global requirements while aligning FP scope with mechanical, electrical, and controls teams.

Travel to project sites is expected. The role emphasizes ensuring uptime and code compliance through integrated testing and standards maintenance, with exposure to liquid cooling

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fire protection engineering for data centers or mission-critical facilities.
• PE in Fire Protection Engineering preferred (or FPE path).
• Deep knowledge of NFPA 13, 72, 75/76, 2001, and 855, and FM Global data sheets.
• Direct experience managing AHJ plan review and acceptance testing to approval.
• Insurer coordination experience - FM Global strongly preferred.
• Understanding of detection/suppression integration with BMS, electrical shutdown, and mechanical sequences.
• Familiarity with FP implications of liquid cooling and battery energy storage.
• Able to cover multiple concurrent projects across jurisdictions.
• Periodic travel for acceptance tests and FM visits (typically 15-25%).

Responsibilities

• Review suppression and detection designs for code compliance and FM Global data sheet conformance.
• Coordinate FP permitting interfaces: plan submittals, variance requests, and inspection support.
• Drive FM Global engagement across the portfolio: plan reviews and field engineering visits.
• Coordinate FP scope with mechanical, electrical, and controls: EPO, interlocks, and alarm integration into the BMS.
• Support acceptance testing and turnover through commissioning.
• Maintain FP standards and track evolving code/FM requirements for AI-era densities.
• Travel to project sites for testing and inspections.
