Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks an engineering technician for field-based HVAC and mechanical systems support at customer sites in the Hermiston area. You will interface with customers and manufacturing teams to optimize products while ensuring high safety and quality standards.

The role requires reading blueprints, assembling cooling components, and handling start-up and commissioning tasks with minimal supervision. Travel to field locations is required.

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of operating principles of cooling/refrigeration equipment and systems.
• Must understand electricity and electrical and solid state control systems.
• Must follow safety practices and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret electrical, control and mechanical blueprints and drawings.
• Measure and lay out reference points for installation.
• Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components using hand and power tools.
• Measure and cut piping and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment.
• Start up system and test for leaks with testing devices.
• Recharge system with refrigerant and calibrate system.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC and refrigeration equipment and PLC-based controls.
• Communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical staff.
