Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer to lead complex service operations across multiple data center locations. The role requires extensive travel (4–6 weeks at a time) and a strong background in power systems, relay testing, and troubleshooting.

You will mentor junior staff, serve as a technical expert in the field, and oversee on-site activities to ensure safety and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–12+ years in field service with power systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven experience in electrical testing and field service roles.
• Hands-on experience with switchgear, transformers, and other electrical equipment.
• Willingness to travel 4–6 weeks at a time.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform complex field service operations and troubleshooting tasks.
• Apply engineering methods to modify and redline customer drawings and schematics.
• Conduct relay testing (electro-mechanical and solid-state), PLC programming, and testing of low and medium voltage circuit breakers.
• Perform CT testing, SF6 gas testing, and utility paralleling system analysis.
• Operate and interpret results from test equipment such as relay test sets, power factor testers, Hipot, Megger, phase rotation meters, and voltage/current meters.
• Supervise on-site activities and ensure safety and technical compliance.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior associates.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in specific technical areas.
• Work with and troubleshoot, install, commission switchgear, transformers, and other power delivery equipment.

This role involves extensive travel (4–6 weeks at a time) followed by a scheduled rotation home. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power systems, relay testing, and troubleshooting, with the ability to mentor junior staff and act as a technical expert in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply engineering methods to modify and redline customer drawings and schematics.

• Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods (4–6 weeks) with scheduled rotations home.
