Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Sr. Field Technician to inspect, test, and maintain high, medium, and low electrical power equipment across projects.

You will lead safety briefings, troubleshoot complex systems, and generate detailed test reports for clients in North America. You will work with SF6, vacuum circuit breakers, transformers, grounding, and instrument transformers, ensuring compliance with safety policies and project timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic technology, or military experience preferred.
• 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
• NETA I Certification; NETA IV Certification a plus.
• Able to climb ladders and lift up to 70 lbs.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety briefings on job site and mitigate hazards.
• Perform high, medium, and low voltage testing as a crew leader.
• Troubleshoot and solve equipment problems using manuals and schematics.
• Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance.
• Train and qualify Field Technician I, II, and III as needed.
• Interact with customers and manage large projects.

Position Summary

The Sr. Field Technician will inspect, test, and maintain High, Medium, and Low electrical power equipment. Technicians will work with electrical equipment, such as SF6 & vacuum circuit breakers, pad mount transformers/GSU transformers, grounding, instrument transformers, and variance of switches both manual and motor operated. Technicians will implement safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety briefings on job site, identify, eliminate, or mitigate hazards.
• Perform High, Medium, and Low voltage testing of electrical power equipment as a crew leader.
• Utilize Human Performance Error Elimination concepts and tools.
• Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel in order to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and determine optimum equipment functioning.
• Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean equipment and components.
• Leader in Safety Culture and responsible for other team members.
• Ability to install, test and maintain electrical apparatus.
• Understand the theory behind and reason for testing with the ability to analyze results.
• Develop and write reports.
• Create plans for testing apparatus.
• Project management of large scale and complex projects.
• Ability to train and qualify Field Technician I, II and III.
• Interact with customers.
• Ability to perform complex troubleshooting.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen due to this being a safety sensitive position.
• Complete a satisfactory criminal background check.
• Able to work overtime and travel out of town for periods of time.
• Must have a valid driver's license and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelors or Associates Degree in Electrical / Electronic technology, or Military experience preferred.
• 10+ Year(s) Relevant Industry Experience.
• NETA I Certified, NETA IV Certified a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to climb ladders, stand for extended periods, able to lift 70 lbs.
