Job summary

Hanley Energy is seeking a Field Technician to travel to customer sites and troubleshoot mechanical equipment in hyperscale data center environments. You will collaborate with team members and stakeholders to meet key objectives and complete thorough technical documentation.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of experience with mechanical systems (heat exchangers, pumps, fans, valves), strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to read electrical schematics and P&IDs.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of industry experience with mechanical systems including heat exchangers, air handlers, pumps, fans, valves and controls instrumentation.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience commissioning HVAC, cooling, or critical infrastructure systems.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Field Technician

The Field Technician will go to customer sites to troubleshoot and test mechanical equipment in a hyperscale data center landscape. They will work with their team members as well as outside stakeholders to ensure that key customer objectives are achieved. They will be responsible for the completion of technical documentation. They must be motivated, eager to learn, detail oriented and mechanically curious.

Job Qualifications
Desired qualifications/skills include:
  • 1-2 years of industry experience with mechanical systems including heat exchangers, air handlers, pumps, fans, valves and controls instrumentation.
  • Technical degrees/certifications in relevant fields (STEM, MEP, SCADA)
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience commissioning HVAC, cooling, or critical infrastructure systems
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in teams
  • Willingness to travel is required (No more than 25%)
  • Knowledge of IRHX/Heat Exchanger systems and heat transfer principles (preferred)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and controls integration (preferred)
  • Knowledge of LV electrical systems and safe isolation procedures (preferred)
  • Experience performing functional testing, start-up, and commissioning activities (preferred)
  • Understanding of data center cooling infrastructure (preferred).

  • Mechanical/electrical field service engineering
