Job summary

IES Communications seeks a Field Engineer II to provide on-site technical support for data center infrastructure. You will install, test, and maintain servers, storage, and networking gear, while ensuring systems meet SLAs and customer expectations.

Role involves deployment projects, issue resolution, site surveys, and documentation. Requires 2–4 years in data centers, strong diagnostics, and ability to travel with lifting capabilities and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2–4 years supporting data center operations or field services.
• Experience installing and troubleshooting servers, storage, networking gear, and cabling.
• Windows and Linux server environments experience.
• Understanding of TCP/IP networking and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Experience with ticketing and service management platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift equipment up to 50 pounds and travel to customer sites.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and support data center hardware including servers, storage systems, networking devices, racks, and cabling.
• Perform preventative maintenance and break-fix repairs on data center equipment.
• Troubleshoot hardware, network connectivity, power, and environmental issues in customer facilities.
• Execute equipment deployments, decommissioning, upgrades, and technology refresh projects.
• Respond to service requests, incidents, and escalations within SLAs.
• Conduct site surveys to validate installation readiness and assess risks.
• Document service activities, findings, assets, and customer interactions.
• Coordinate with customers, project managers, vendors, and cross-functional teams to resolve issues.
• Support data center power and cooling by visual inspections and reporting concerns.
• Adhere to safety, security, and compliance requirements; participate in on-call rotations.
• Mentor and train junior field engineers and technicians.
