Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to ensure the performance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems at our TX data center. You will lead preventative maintenance, respond to emergencies, and serve as the primary technical resource for our Engineering Operations Technicians and vendor teams.

You will collaborate with IT leaders to optimize safety, reliability and efficiency while helping shape operating standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for facilities-related issues across critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS, cooling, and monitoring systems.
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures within SLA.
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with Facility Manager to set team culture.
• Create and deploy standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
• Support building out new facilities and projects to increase facility efficiency.
• Work outside of normal hours for maintenance and emergency responses.
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
• Coordinate projects with IT managers to optimize safety, performance, and reliability.
