Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Data Center Chief Engineer to oversee electrical, mechanical, and life-safety systems in a North Carolina data center. You will lead preventative maintenance, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with Engineering Operations Technicians and vendors to ensure peak facility performance.

You''ll analyze building performance, train teams, and implement standard practices while maintaining safety and efficiency. Travel to multiple sites may be required as operations scale.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of electrical and mechanical facilities maintenance
• Experience reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings
• 3+ years of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities-related issues and oversee operations of critical systems
• Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot within SLAs
• Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and coordinate with Facility Manager
• Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams
• Assist in building out new facilities and projects to improve facility efficiency
• Work outside normal hours for routine maintenance and respond to after-hours calls
• Communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences
• Coordinate with IT managers to optimize plant safety, performance, and capacity
• Ensure safety procedures are followed by vendors and staff
• Establish building performance benchmarks and prepare maintenance reports
• Use MS Excel, Word, Outlook for day-to-day tasks
